What Does A Hospice Volunteer Do?
Services offered by Hospice Volunteers of Waterville Area are unique and available at no cost for up to two years including:
- Companionship visits to client and family.
- Respite visits while family members and other caregivers take a break.
- Comfort and support to the children of the dying.
- The "Tender Care" team sits vigil with the dying.
- Compassionate listening.
- Transportation and errand running.
Facilitate grief support groups for adults, students and teachers in the school setting, for employees in the work place, and at Camp Ray of Hope
- Bereavement support for family and friends.
What If Nursing Care Is Needed?
Hospice Volunteers of Waterville Area works closely with a Medicare-certified homecare hospice program in our area. We can refer people to this program or to other home health agencies if additional help is needed.
Hospice volunteers cannot administer medications or provide services which may be considered skilled nursing.
How Do You Receive Our Services?
People may refer themselves or be referred to Hospice Volunteers by their physician, family, clergy, hospital/homecare personnel or social service agencies.
